Wooo! So Metrocon has already been over for a week and I forgot to bring my camera to vlog! No time for intros, let's get it going!
Before the Con
On Tuesday night before Metrocon, I went to go pick up BloodyCoffee
so we could surprise Fay-D-Fluorite
the next day. Little did we know that BC's plane would be delayed for 3 hours and I didn't pick her up until 1 am. X.X After finally reuniting, we headed back to my house, ate some nomz, and laughed until we fell asleep. The next day, to BC's suspicious eyes, I got a bit dressed up and told her to dress up a little. When we went to pick up Fay, she was definitely not expecting BC to pop up behind her in the van. She also seemed less than amused, lol. Now that the 3 of us were together again, we headed of to Cheesecake Factory for birthday lunches! My birthday was July 21st, and BC's was Aug 1st. While I got up to wash my hands, I came back to a happy birthday cheesecake + song. Bamboozled everywhere! It really was a lot of fun. After roaming the mall for a while, we headed back to my house to now finish our cosplays.
Once back we spent the next 2 days trying to finish our costumes in my tiny house. For the most part, my cosplays were done except for a few minor accessories. This was mainly a wig workshop + tattered-in-blood party. On Thursday we picked up our badges for pre-reg and momo-chan59
came over. Momo, being the awesome cosplayer she is, already had her stuff done other than fixing 1 part of her Korra cosplay. After that she was soon asleep while BC, Fay, and I were tearing up our HOTD uniforms and splattering blood on them in my backyard until 2 in the morning. I looked like I was just in an episode of Dexter, haha. Finally we all got to sleep and head out the next morning to METROCON!
Friday morning was spent trying to load all of our stuff in the van and get ready. Momo and I were already raring to go, but BC and Fay were still fixing their makeup and wigs. We left my house around 11am and were on our way! Momo and I were Korra and Mako, BC was Allen, and Fay was Saeko. Friday was spent roaming around and going to one of Parlé's panels! Momo and I split up to roam some more while BC and Fay had a mini shoot at our hotel. Speaking of hotel, the hotel staff we encountered were super friendly and very nice! Especially since I checked in to the hotel as Mako, haha! The bellhop even helped unload our luggage from the cart in our room! We also were on the 6th floor! Woah! Fay and I stayed at that hotel 2 years ago and we were on the 24th floor! By nightfall, we made a friend who was a couple doors down. We were all starving and decided to order in Chinese food.
Thus begins the most awkward shoot of my life (that I'm probably never going to do again). We all had the great idea of doing a Makorra date night shoot once we got our food. Bad bad bad! As much as I love my Momo, that was getting too close for comfort and I know she felt it too! BC was attempting to shoot a fake kiss picture which was so so so incredibly awkward and we couldn't stop laughing and ahhhhhhh. Because of the lighting though, a lot can't even be used QAQ After dinner we decided to skip the rave since we were all getting sleepy.
Saturday was our Highschool of the Dead group and Momo being her amazing tribal Korra! We all got up decently early so we could help Momo get her bodypaint on since she had an early shoot. BC, Fay, and I decided to take a quick dip in the hotel pool since we were too busy at night (We love night swimming). Once we finally got in our cosplay and headed to the convention center, we were stopped by a couple guys from JapanMinute (you can find them on FB, I'm actually their cover photo) making a video! It was so much fun and it was also a really cool experience! I'll link the video as soon as they put it up! We shot outside so it was getting quite hot and once we finished, we remembered we were supposed to meet up with iM Photography to get a couple shots! By the time we actually got in the con center, he had already gone to lunch, so we waited until he came back.
Our HOTD cosplays were very well-received! And honestly, I really don't link the panty shots in the show at all; what I do like is the actual story and the fact that I was actually scared while watching the first episode. It really is a great anime if you ignore all the panty shots and whatnot. Anyways, we actually spent a lot of Saturday hanging out with iM as well as making new photographer friends. In hindsight, I probably should have gone to the dealer's room because I feel like I missed out on that a bit.
When it started getting dark, we had an impromptu shoot with 3DCV. It was fun but also hot x.x After that we quickly went back to our room to freshen up for our shoot with stillreflection
(also known as Ken AD Photography) who got some really awesome shots despite being a night shoot! I can't wait to get some more shots at AFO! After a long, long day of shoots, we headed back to our hotel. We wanted to go to the rave but our bodies were screaming no. Big mistake. There apparently were BOUNCY HOUSES there! I can't believe we missed bouncy houses! Well, it is what it is. We all packed up and crashed to prepare for our last day.
In the morning, we all got ready to try to get our stuff out of the room. Along with pretty much everyone else. Momo ended up being a kpop/tumblr mashup girl, and Fay, BC, and I were in our Kaburagi family cosplays from Tiger & Bunny. I ended up taking the extra wig fibers from BC's Kaede wig and lash glued it to make my beard, lol. I couldn't do my normal derpy expressions because of this though. My mom was being amazing the whole weekend by bringing us to the con on Friday, bringing us a little bit of McDonald's on Saturday, and taking all our stuff back to my house on Sunday. After we loaded the van, we went straight to another Parlé panel. I was getting so sleepy during the panel and was out of it and decided I needed some kind of boost. On my way out I found a friend I made at Khaotic and she hung out with me for a while. Unfortunately, the vending machines were empty, so I went to buy a very delicious strawberry-banana smoothie (darn you delicious overpriced smoothie!). After the panel was over we ran to do a quick shoot with Shelly before having to leave the con before it started pouring.
Once we were back to my house, there were a lot of people over for dinner so as to celebrate my brother's birthday (which was the day before, but now everyone's here). We ate well and looked through all our photos very sleepily. Momo went back home a little later since she had practice in the morning and BC, Fay, and I prepared for after con shenanigans.
After the con
At a very, very early time Monday morning, I got up to take my mom to work so I could have the van that day. As soon as I got back home I slept a bit longer. Today was the day that we were going to Adventure Island, woo! BC had never been and it's a really fun waterpark! We got there I think a little before noon or so, and rode a lot of rides! We were also probably on the lazy river half the time, haha. The next morning we were all up around 5am or so to drop off BC at the airport. *sadface* After some sad goodbyes, Fay and I went to Chik-Fil-A for breakfast and watched Free! until we fell asleep for a while longer. When we woke up it was already time for Fay to go. *more sadfaces* Fay lives a lot closer to me than BC but I still don't like seeing all my friends go home D:
All in all, Metro was pretty fun. Much better than last years though. I really miss seeing all my friends but I'm also really glad to have made new ones along the way! I hope to see you guys in the future and we can have a lot more fun!
Thaaaaat's right! I'm going to AFO this year! It's from Aug 16th-18th in Orlando! It's my first time going and I'll be bringing a new cosplay! I'll be Rei (HOTD) on Friday, Super secret costume on Saturday, and I'll probably be in regular clothes on Sunday. For AFO, I'll be with the kpop booth again and I can't wait to hang out with them! I'll be in the booth the whole weekend so come say hi to me! C: I'll also be bringing my camera to vlog too. I hope to become a good vlogger one day, haha. Well, until next time! Happy cosplaying!
